Ward earns Tri-State Late Model Series top 10 at Park Jefferson

Morgan Ward took on two Tri-State Late Model Series shows over the hot weekend and grabbed her fifth top-10 finish of the year in her Air Safe Hitch No. 37JR machine.

The Tri-State series was originally slated to compete at Britt, Iowa’s Hancock County Speedway on Friday, but when the event was rained out, the event shifted to Park Jefferson Speedway in North Sioux City, South Dakota. Despite the last-minute change, 31 Late Model competitors descended on Park Jefferson.

Ward finished fourth in her heat race on the quarter-mile track and started 14th in the $1,500-to-win feature. She climbed four spots in the 25-lapper and finished 10th.

On Saturday, the series schedule shifted to the half-mile Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City, Iowa, for a $2,000-to-win program that attracted 25 Late Models. Ward grabbed third in her heat, then started seventh in the 25-lap A-Main but faded to a 13th-place result.

With her car needing some repairs and maintenance, Ward elected not to compete with the Tri-State Late Model Series on Sunday night at Mason City (Iowa) Motor Speedway.
