Ward drives to top-10 finish during Minnesota and South Dakota weekend swing
Morgan Ward hit the road with her new No. 37JR Late Model over Mother’s Day weekend for a pair of WISSOTA-sanctioned events.
On Friday, Ward was part of a 46-car field at I-94 Speedway in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, for the first race of the WISSOTA Late Model Challenge Series season. After driving to a fifth-place finish in her heat race on the 3/8-mile track, Ward started her B-Main from the pole. However, she faded during the race and turned in a seventh-place finish. Her night thus came to a close before the 40-lap, $3,000-to-win feature, but she turned in solid laps in the new car.
Although truck issues threatened the rest of her weekend plans, Ward was finally able to hit the track again on Sunday evening at Casino Speedway in Watertown, South Dakota. She steered to a second-place finish in her heat on the quarter-mile oval and rolled off fourth in the 25-lap main event. She ultimately came home ninth in the track’s season-opening event.
